Dr. Gupta
Arjun Gupta
Dr. Arjun Gupta was born in Calcutta, India where he spent the early part of his childhood before moving to Seattle, WA and learning what never ending rain could feel like. He escaped the wet weather when he moved to California to complete his undergraduate education at UC Berkeley where he completed a double major in Integrative Biology and Music. From there, he traveled to Boston, MA where he attended dental school at Tufts University. He graduated at the top 5% of his class and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Before freezing to death in the East Coast, he returned to California to complete an AEGD Residency at the University of Pacific Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Because The West Coast is the Best Coast, he’s here to stay.
During his dental training and residency, Dr. Gupta had the opportunity to treat a variety of patients ranging from those requiring simple restorations to many who were medically complex and needed full mouth rehabilitation in the form of multiple crowns, veneers, root canals, bone grafts, implants, removable dentures, and even Invisalign therapy. Dr. Gupta firmly believes that while good dentistry is important, a great experience is even more critical. In addition to caring for the patient, he also aims to care about the person in the chair. His goal is to tailor a customized treatment plan for the patient that combines the patient’s comfort and goals, his professional expertise, and evidence-based dentistry.
Dr. Gupta is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Alameda County Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry. He has volunteered with the Berkeley Suitcase Clinic, Veterans Stand Down event, CDA Cares, Special Olympics, Give Kids a Smile Day, Give Special Kids a Smile Day, and Give Veterans a Smile Day. When not working in private practice, Dr. Gupta actively mentors pre-dental students at UC Berkeley, volunteers as an attending to pre-doctoral students at the University of Pacific, and lectures yearly at Tufts School of Dental Medicine. In his spare time, he volunteers at his church, practices the Clarinet and Saxophone, cooks various cuisines for his friends and family, and enjoys chocolate as he’s a chocoholic, much to the chagrin of his wife.

Mussie Sibhatu, DDS, MS, is a trusted and talented dentist and prosthodontist at Oakland Smile Dentistry in Oakland, California. Dr. Sibhatu offers dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, tooth extraction, and many other general and advanced dentistry services.
As a prosthodontist, Dr. Sibhatu has extensive training beyond his dentistry degree. Dr. Sibhatu attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for both his dental degree and his three-year specialty training in prosthodontics.
Dr. Sibhatu has advanced training in dental implants, removable dentures, cosmetic dentistry, and full-mouth reconstruction. He puts that training and skill to work every day by treating patients of all ages using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques.

I have been practicing as a dental hygienist since 2006. I am fluent in both Vietnamese and Cantonese. My patients' health is my top priority, and dental hygiene plays a significant role in achieving it. Therefore, in addition to providing dental procedures, I also promote education on prevention and good oral health habits. When I'm not busy at work, I love exploring different cultures and cuisines through travel, and you can often find me striking a pose in my favorite yoga class.

Katheleen was born and raised in Connecticut, graduating from Goodwin University’s rigorous dental hygiene program. She began her career as a dental assistant in an orthodontic office, where she developed a deep understanding of oral health and a love for patient-centered care. Outside of work, Katheleen is a competitive bodybuilder who enjoys spending time with her family and her adorable dog.

Sonia has been in the dental field for over 20 years. As the front of house, she has immense experience helping patients navigate the complexities of dental insurance. She is passionate about getting to know the patients, not just as clients, but as people. Whether it's a quick procedure, or a complex oral rehabilitation case, Sonia dedicates time to meticulously go over individual treatment plans and answering any and all questions so that the patient has a clear picture of their next steps. The best thing about her job is seeing a person’s confidence restored after improving their smile and playing a role in that process. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and attending sporting events. She also enjoys learning skills that will last a lifetime.

Alyssa, a bay area native, recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Integrative Biology (Go Bears!). While at Berkeley, her diverse volunteering experiences gave her a deep understanding of providing a dedicated customer service experience. She feels that building personal connections is not just a part of her job, it’s a commitment she upholds and genuinely enjoys. When out of the office, Alyssa likes to hang out with her friends and explore new hiking spots or flip rocks to find cool bugs.

Merhawi graduated as a Doctor of Dental medicine in Eritrea and worked in Eritrea and Ethiopia as a general dentist for five years. He is striving to be a dentist in the United States. In the meantime, he serves as a multidisciplinary dental assistant.
